Portrait Photographers

 Annie Leibovitz

1. Annie Leibovitz has worked with John Lennon, Keith Richards, and Mick Jagger.

2. Annie's most famous work was from the period where she captured a portrait of Lennon and Yoko Ono that was published on the cover of Rolling Stone in January 1981.

3. My favorite portrait shot by Annie Leibovitz is the image presented below because I am personally a big fan of soccer and this image itself was one that I consider iconic (and went viral during the World Cup Season). Moreover, the color and editing to the image adds to the level of suspense given through the body language of the players. As for the type of balance that is used in the image, I believe it is a mix of tonal and conceptual.

Gordon Parks

1. Gordon Parks photo essay regarding the life of a Harlem gang leader won him his widespread acclaim and a position as the first African American staff photographer for Life.

2. Aside from photography, Parks also composed music and painted.

3. One image of Gordon Parks that I like is presented below. This is because the image encapsulates a large problem in our society when it comes to various races getting the same treatment and ultimately gaining equality. Moreover, the sign and individuals in the image add to the overall message that Mr. Parks is presenting.
